Swimming - Wabash 8th at Warsaw Sectional; Hanes & Higuera Set School Records

With only six swimmers, the Wabash Girls Swim team finished 8th at the Warsaw Sectional, setting personal records in every swim and six school records. At the preliminaries on Thursday, all swimmers earned best times. Harper Hanes set the 200 IM record with a time of 2:31.33, breaking the previous record held by Becca Bruss by over 4 seconds. Rinka Higuera set the 100 Butterfly record also held by Bruss by .33. In the next heat, H. Hanes broke Higuera's record by .48. Higuera broke her own school record in the 100 Breaststroke by .22. At the finals on Saturday, the 200 Medley Relay team of Brynn Lindsay, Higuera, H. Hanes, and Emma Coffman finished 7th, achieving another season best time. H. Hanes finished 7th in the 200 IM. Higuera broke H. Hanes' 100 Butterfly school record by .26 and earned 5th place, with H. Hanes finishing 6th. Higuera set the 100 Breaststroke school record again, dropping .07 to earn 8th place. The 400 Free Relay team of H. Hanes, Aubrey Hanes, Lindsay, and Higuera finished 8th in a season best time. Beginning of season to end of season improvements on sectional events.
