Wabash Varsity Apaches Come Up Short Against Rochester

Wabash Varsity Apaches lost to Rochester 4-1 on Monday. A fielder's choice by Carson Paulik put Rochester on the board in the top of the fifth. Rochester committed an error, which helped Wabash Varsity Apaches tie the game at one in the bottom of the fifth. In the top of the tenth, Rochester broke up the tie when Conner Dunfee singled, scoring two runs. Then a sacrifice fly by Brant Beck followed to extend the lead to 4-1. Paulik earned the win for Rochester. The starter gave up five hits and one run (zero earned) over nine and one-third innings, striking out 13 and walking two. Cooper Long took the loss for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The hurler went three innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Mackey Sorg stepped on the mound first for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The hurler allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. Haiden McWhirt went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Wabash Varsity Apaches in hits. Remington Cressell stole two bases. Rochester accumulated nine hits in the game. Dunfee and Zakk Parks each collected three hits for Rochester. Dunfee and Beck were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Rochester.
