Wabash Travels to Whitko Finishing the TRC Conference with a Win 5-0 The Wabash HS boy's tennis team took the road on Wednesday evening to face the Whitko Wildcat tennis program in what was the last conference match for the Apaches. The team took each match (2 doubles was a forfeit) 5-0 and finish conference play with a 5-1 record. The Apaches are 12-6 on the season. Grant Ford playing at 1 singles won his match in short order with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Playing at 2 singles, Eli Mattern also cruised to a 2 set victory, taking both sets 6-0, 6-0. Troy Guenin-Hodson won at 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, as well. 1 Doubles also won in 2 sets with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Coach Mattern shared: "We have had good practices this week heading into this match. It was a great opportunity for the guys to work on some of the challenges we have thrown at them in actual match scenarios. With sectionals a week away, we need to make the most of our match play opportunities at each position to polish our skill sets and incorporate new shot making progressions into our games." Wabash travels to Blackford Thursday and hosts Bethany Christian on Saturday to finish out the regular season.
