Wabash Plays a Tough Sectional Tune-up with Bethany Christian On a beautiful Saturday morning, WHS Tennis played it's final match of the 2023 season. Facing off against a strong Bethany Christian program, the Apache Netters suffered a 2-3 loss. Coach Mattern shared: "Naturally we want to win every match we play. Moving into this match we knew Bethany Christian is a solid team, under Coach Miller, they have been a challenge for us the past few years. So for us, even though we lost, playing against solid competition, competing well at every position helps us in the long run. We were able to pick up wins at both doubles, a great confidence booster for those two duos, and all other positions played well. The points in all the singles matches were highly contested, the set scores don't accurately represent the competitiveness in each spot. All in all, it was a good day for us as a team." Scores on the day for the Apaches: ! singles Grant Ford - 4-6, 1-6 2 singles Eli Mattern - 2-6, 2-6 3 singles Troy Guenin-Hodson 6-7, 2-6 1 doubles Cooper Long/Alex Dinkins. 7-5, 6-2 2 Doubles TJFritter/Ashton Coffman 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 Wabash finishes the season 13-7, 5-1 in TRC Conference Play. The sectional draw is Monday evening which will determine when we play next.
