Jake Sailors drove in four runs on one hit to lead Wabash Varsity Apaches past Southwood Varsity Knights 14-2 on Wednesday. In the third inning, Sailors hit a grand slam to right field. Wabash Varsity Apaches jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Sam Harris doubled, scoring one run, and Remington Cressell singled, scoring two runs. Wabash Varsity Apaches scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Haiden McWhirt homered to center field, scoring two runs, Sailors hit a grand slam to right field, and McWhirt doubled, scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to left field by Ivan Ranck. Sailors earned the win for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Owen Davis took the loss for Southwood Varsity Knights. The righty went two innings, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out none and walking three. Mackey Sorg led things off on the mound for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Wabash Varsity Apaches tallied 12 hits in the game. McWhirt, Harris, Sorg, and Cressell each collected two hits for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Wabash Varsity Apaches had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Cooper Long and Sailors led the team with two walks each. Zach Miller stole two bases. Wabash Varsity Apaches ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game.
