The Wabash High School girls cross country team opened the season at the Mississinewa Invitational, and it was a race run by the underclassmen. The younger runners stepped up in a big way, showing that they are ready to contribute and make an impact this season. Racing with a total of 78 young ladies, the Apaches ran full speed into their places and fought hard into the finish to complete their first 2026 race. A huge shout-out goes to freshman Teresina Cordes, who had an incredible performance, breaking the Mississinewa course record AND setting a new Wabash school record with a time of 19:29.9! Teresina shattered the previous school record of 20:22.5, originally set by Katherine Wilhelm. What a way to start the season! Following in after Cordes, was Sutton Stoffel, another freshman, with a time of 22:18 and taking 4th place overall. Next up for the team was Mya Golliher, a sophomore, coming in with a 22:42 time and taking 7th place. Zooming into the finish was Emma Cantrell, another sophomore, with a time of 29:38, and placing 53rd overall. We are excited to see what this group accomplishes as the season continues and we add in our upper classmen!
