Wabash High School

The Wabash High School girls cross country team traveled to Brown County this weekend to take on the challenging Brown County course in tough, muggy conditions. Despite the heat and humidity, the Lady Apaches stepped up and competed hard against a strong field. Teresina Cordes competed in the Elite Race and turned in another spectacular performance! Teresina finished 6th overall, earning a new personal best and a new Wabash school record with a time of 18:01! The rest of the Lady Apaches competed in the Varsity Race, putting together a strong team effort and continuing to gain valuable experience against tough competition. As a team, the girls placed 6th place in the A Class. They were 17th as a team in the combined divisions score. The girls raced with 295 individuals, 33 complete teams, and 46 schools represented. Sutton Stoffel, a freshman, ran a 21:09 and placed 9th in her class, 17th overall. Sophomore Mya Golliher placed 20th in her class, 45th overall. Stoffel and Golliher received recognition for placing in the top 20 of the class A athletes. Following into the shoot were two seniors. Mia Fairchild came in with a 23:50, in 108th place overall. Chloe Cooper comes next with a 24:10 and taking 120th overall. Emma Cantrell, a sophomore, came in fighting with a time of 26:22 and taking 203rd. Rounding out the Apaches into the finish line was senior Josie Bailey with a time of 27:13 and placing 222nd. Every runner stepped up, competed hard, and represented Wabash with pride. It was another great opportunity for this team to challenge themselves, race together, and continue building toward the goals ahead. The girls will be competing again next Saturday at West Noble.
