The dynamic duo, Cali Kugler and Ivy Beamer, finished their 2023 season at the New Haven Regional this Saturday morning. The girls set out to run one of the hardest, competitive races that they’ve experienced for the season. Fighting for another week of practice, the girls knew that placement was going to be extremely important in order for them to qualify for state. Surrounded by cross country family, the girls took off for their race hungry for more of what cross-country competition can bring. Their times were fast from mile one to mile two, but groups of runners made it challenging to pass through the narrow and winding part of the course. The girls gave it their all, crossing the finish line knowing that they left their mark in the foundation of our program. The dynamic duo went out as fighting Apaches. Calisen Kugler, a senior, completed her cross country career with a season PR time of 21:37 and placing 118th out of 246 runners. Cali had four years of experience on the high school team, coming off of an injury at the start of the season. She had to work her way back up the lineup. Because of her tenacious attitude, Cali was able to finish her senior year as a regional qualifier and leaving a positive impact on our program. Ivy Beamer, our team’s lone junior runner, came flying in with a career PR of 22:38 and placing 183rd out of 246. Ivy completed her junior year running almost an entire minute faster than she has ever ran. We look forward to the future she has as our team’s only running senior for the 2024 season. The running Lady Apaches team has continued to grow over the past five years. However, numbers is not what makes the family bond. It’s the love and support that they have given each other throughout these past few years that has made our team so successful. We are incredibly proud of the young ladies we have on our team. We can only hope that they continue to inspire others to become a part of our cross country family. Until next year, the Lady Apache running crew is signing off. See you in 2024!
