The Wabash High School girls cross country team made history at the TRC Meet, capturing the TRC team championship for the first time in 23 years! The last time Wabash’s high school girls claimed a conference championship was in 2003, making this year’s title a long-awaited return to the top of the conference. That 2003 Central Indiana Conference championship (our former Conference) came when high school girls competed in a 4K race. This year’s championship carries an even greater distinction: it is the first TRC conference championship ever won by Wabash girls competing in the 5K distance. The Lady Apaches put together a tremendous team performance to bring the championship back to Wabash. Their success was the result of the work they have put in throughout the season, the willingness to push one another, and the belief they have developed as a team. Leading the way individually was Teresina Cordes, who captured the individual TRC championship with an 18:11, the fastest Conference Champion time for the 5k. Sutton Stoffel (21:10 with a 6th place finish) and Mya Golliher (season PR time 21:27 in 9th place) also finished inside the top 12, earning All-Conference honors. Following in was a crew of seniors with Chloe Cooper running a career PR time of 23:06 in 24th place. Mallory Tart followed in 25th with a season PR of 23:17. Mia Fairchild took 27th place with a time of 23:56. Emma Cantrell came into the shoot with a season PR of 25:44 in 38th place. Josie Bailey rounded out her season with a time of 27:14 in 48th place overall. After more than two decades without a conference title, the Lady Apaches have now written their own chapter in Wabash cross country history. From a 4K championship in 2003 to a 5K championship in 2026, this group has accomplished something no Wabash girls cross country team had done before. 23 years later, the TRC championship is coming back to Wabash!
