The odds were definitely not on the side of the Wabash boys cross country team entering Saturdays sectional meet. Statistical analysis said there was only an 8.7% chance of winning. Mega school Warsaw with their 2077 student enrollment was the heavy favorite. An epic showdown was set to play out on the 5000 meter course at Manchester High School. The results proved what our fans already know: the Apaches should never be counted out! Wabash placed 4 runners in the top 5 led by Kamden Oswalt's 1st place finish to capture the sectional championship with a score of 31 points. Warsaw finished with 2nd with 38. Culver Academies finished 3rd with 104 points, Plymouth 4th with 116, and Columbia City 5th with 134. The top 5 teams qualify for the regional next Saturday. There were 16 total schools represented. In addition to Kamden the other members of the Apache quartet were James Unger finishing 2nd, Ezra Church in 3rd, and Kedryn Evenson in 5th. Luis Trejo was the last scorer coming in 21st. There were a total of 78 runners in the race. The Apaches return to action next Saturday at Manchester High School for the regional meet. Come cheer on the Apaches as they take on the best in northwest part of the state!
