The four qualifying Wabash Lady Apaches competed at the regional meet Saturday, joining a multitude of talent athletes on the starting line. The four Wabash individual qualifiers represented their program with tenacity, determination, and heart, delivering personal bests and a memorable performance to close out the season. Leading the way was Teresina Cordes, who once again broke her own school record and secured her place at the IHSAA State Finals, making Wabash Girls Cross Country history. Cordes finished 6th overall with a career personal record of 17:42, continuing an outstanding season and cementing her place among the top runners in Wabash history. Her performance was a testament to the work, consistency, and competitive spirit she has demonstrated all season. Sutton Stoffel closed out her season with tremendous heart, running a 46-second career personal record of 20:05 to finish 64th overall. Stoffel’s commitment to improving and her willingness to compete through the final race of the season exemplified the character of the Lady Apaches program. Mya Golliher also delivered an impressive performance, running a 51-second season personal record and a new career personal record of 20:57, finishing 98th overall. Her effort reflected the growth and determination she has shown throughout the season, finishing strong on a challenging regional stage. For Chloe Cooper, the regional marked the conclusion of her cross country career. Cooper finished 186th overall with a career personal record of 22:23, providing a fitting end to her time in the sport. Her perseverance and dedication have been an important part of the program, and she closed her career continuing to push herself and give her best. With 242 athletes competing in one of the most challenging meets of the season, the Lady Apaches had every reason to be proud of their efforts. Each runner took the line with courage, competed with tenacity, and gave everything she had. While times and places tell part of the story, the heart these girls showed throughout the race tells the rest. They represented Wabash with pride, supported one another, and embodied the team’s commitment to one pace, one purpose, and one family. Congratulations to Teresina, Sutton, Mya, and Chloe on an incredible regional performance and a season filled with growth, resilience, and personal accomplishments. Wabash Cross Country is proud of the way these athletes competed and the heart they brought to every mile. Cordes will continue with her season competing next Saturday at the IHSAA State Finals down at Terre Haute.
