The Wabash Apache boys cross country team had an historical performance while finishing 7th out of 25 teams in the single class regional meet Saturday morning at Manchester High School. Kamden Oswalt and James Unger qualified for the state meet marking the first time in the history of Wabash High School that two individuals qualified for the state finals in the same year. Kamden finished 10th while James finished 18th. There were a total 245 runners in the field. From the gun Wabash made it known that they should never be counted out. In a single class tournament you race against everyone in your area regardless of enrollment and the Apaches proved they could hang with the mega schools who have 5-6x their enrollment. Ahead of the Apaches were #1 state ranked Carroll High School who won the meet followed by Homestead (2nd), Concordia Lutheran (3rd), Yorktown (4th), Bishop Dwenger (5th) and Warsaw (6th). Senior Ezra Church poured his heart into the race coming in 48th. Freshman Kedryn Evenson put a stamp on his first season with a 68th place finish. Luis Trejo finished 143rd in a consistent race and Landen Fisher ran to a 222nd place finish. Kamden and James will represent Wabash High School at the state finals in Terre Haute on Saturday October 31st.
