Spencer Stout Ends High School Career With All-State Finish In 300 Hurdles

Spencer Stout capped off an illustrious high school career with a 6th place finish in the 300 hurdles at the boys track state finals Saturday evening earning all-state honors in the process. He also competed in the 110 hurdles finishing 10th. Spencer ends his high school career as a 2x TRC champ in the 300H, conference champ in the 110H, 2x sectional champ in the 300H and 110H, 3x state qualifier, and second all time in Wabash High School history in both the 110H (14.58) and 300H (39.03). Wabash was also represented by Coleson Kugler. The sophomore competed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes placing 26th in the 100 and 19th in the 200. Coleson adds another successful chapter to his record book with 2 more yet to be written. He ends his 10th grade campaign as conference champ in the 100 and 200, sectional champ in the 200, and a state qualifier. This season saw him set two school records. He broke Juwan Carter's 100 meter record from 2015 with a time of 10.89 and Jon Denney's 200 meter record from 1975 with a time of 21.89. Spencer's stored career is matched by his excellent character. Never one to seek the spot light, his humility was always on display. He would regularly help teammates whenever needed. He is a consummate professional always honing is craft year after year, putting forth his best effort in the process. His athletic accomplishments were equalled by what he achieved in the classroom. He was a 2x first team academic all-state selection by the Indiana Track and Cross Country Coaches Association. Both his academic and athletic achievement's have earned Spencer a scholarship to Taylor University where he will continue his career.
