The Lady Apaches had their second meet of the season this Saturday morning at the Manchester Invite. The weather was perfect as the girls toed the line. With numbers being slim, the 5 remaining Apaches set their intentions of running to compete. The girls took off, running hard into their first mile and using the last 1,000k to do work on the course. Battling it out for places straight into the finish, the girls came out feeling tough despite being down in team numbers for the race. The group of 5 raced against 113 individuals where 23 schools were represented and 15 complete teams. Their efforts earned them an 11th place team finish! Coming in first for the running Apache crew was 6th grader, Grace Jones, running a career PR time of 13:57, and finishing in 37th place. Second for the team was a 7th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a time of 14:59 and placing 70th overall. Coming in right behind her sister in 71st place was 7th grader Briar Stoffel, running a time of season PR of 15:02. Next into the shoot was 7th grader, Kinslee McBride, running in with a time of 15:27.4 and taking 79th place. Rounding out the Apaches was Alexis Lynn, running a career PR time of 15.27.6, trailing McBride by two tenths of a second and taking 80th place overall. The middle school girls were down in numbers, but not in spirit. They raced with tenacity and pushed through adversity with ease. The girls will be running again next weekend at IWU with their complete team returned!
