The Wabash High School Boys Cross Country Team punched their ticket to the cross country state finals in Terre Haute next Saturday after a 3rd place finish in the regional meet. This marks the second consecutive year in which the Apaches have advanced to the state finals. In a sport predominately dominated by large mega schools, Wabash will be the smallest school represented in the one class state meet. It will be a great chance for the Apaches to test their mettle once again with the likes of Carmel, Brownsburg, Zionsville, Ben Davis, Penn, Portage, Valparaiso, Avon, Lake Central, Floyd Central, and Columbus North, just to name a few. 25 total teams advanced to the state finals from around the state. Isaiah Cordes continued his tear through the postseason leading the Apaches with an 11th place finish. Senior Jace Bullins continued his stellar season coming in 26th. Fellow senior and recent Calvin University commit Jonas Church was the next Wabash runner to cross the finish line in 35th. Brett Shull, a stalwart of the team was close behind in 41st. Sophomore Ezra Church racing in only his 3rd meet of the season due to a stress fracture came in 55th. Junior Caidan Burchett racing in the first regional meet of his career came in 65th. Freshman Kamden Oswalt gained valuable experience coming in 67th place. Out of the 37 other freshmen in the race he was the 6th to cross the line. There were a total of 250 runners in the regional race. On to the state finals!
