The running Lady Apaches kicked off the start of the 2025 season racing close to home at the Northfield Invite. The meet, originally scheduled for Saturday, experienced torrential downpour that led the meet being pushed back to Monday evening. The girls competed against 6 other teams, matching up early into the season with some county teams. The day was hot and humid for the Apaches in their season opener race. Running their first miles with incredible speed, the girls found themselves fighting the heat on the course all of the way through to the finish. First for the team was one of our freshman, Mya Golliher. Golliher came in with a time of 24:47. Next up was one of our juniors, Mia Fairchild. Mia followed across the line in a time of 25:02. Chasing down Fairchild was Mallory Tart, a junior, with a season opener time of 25:43. Next up was Haylee Friend, a senior, running her race in a time of 26:32. Rounding out the group was Emma Cantrell, a freshman, finishing her race with a time of 28:49. The girls toed the line with excitement; knowing that this was the start of their season and getting to race locally was icing on the cake. Locking into race season as a team left the Apaches feeling determined and even more prepared to train for what’s to come this year.
