A short-handed Wabash Boys Soccer team traveled to Mississinewa to open the 2025 season, falling 0-4. For half of the Apaches, it was their first varsity action, with five freshmen starting and logging the majority of minutes. Prestyn Jones anchored the defense, which held off the Mississinewa attack for the first 20 minutes before conceding the opening goal. Senior goalkeeper Jake Vandegrift recorded nine saves, including a spectacular two-stop sequence late in the match to deny the Indians in the closing minutes. On the offensive end, Max Carpenter paced the counterattack with six shots and had a goal disallowed on an offsides call. Sawyer McNally, competing in his first soccer game, nearly scored when his shot forced a kick save that narrowly stayed out of the net. Wabash returns to action Saturday at home against Maconaquah.
