Apache Fight Never Dies: Wabash Boys Soccer Rallies to 3-3 Draw

Wabash Boys Soccer staged a dramatic late comeback to earn a 3-3 draw against Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday night at Alumni Field. The match remained scoreless for the first 60 minutes, with the Vikings controlling much of the possession. Solid defensive play from Derek Reed and Maesyn Jones kept Valley off the board until a chaotic scramble in front of goal allowed the Vikings to slip in the opening score. Just minutes later, a long-range strike put Valley up 2-0 and firmly in control. The Apaches refused to fold. Behind the dominant midfield play of Prestyn Jones, Wabash seized the momentum. A Valley foul in the box set up a penalty kick, which Jones calmly buried to cut the deficit in half. Soon after, relentless hustle from Max Carpenter freed him at the top of the box, where he drilled the equalizer to make it 2-2. With under three minutes to play, Valley regained the lead with a penalty kick of their own. But the Apaches had one more response left. In the final minute, Wabash’s high pressure forced a turnover, and Carpenter found John Harris open inside the box. Harris delivered his first career goal at the perfect moment, sending the Alumni Field crowd into celebration as the Apaches secured the 3-3 draw. Wabash returns to Alumni Field Thursday for a key TRC matchup against county rival Manchester.
