Wabash Goes 1-2 @ Logansport Invite Wabash Boys Tennis competed Saturday in the Logansport Tennis Invite, spending a beautiful Labor Day weekend on the courts. The Apaches went 1-2 on the day, falling to host Logansport 1-4, defeating TRC foe Maconaquah 5-0, and finishing with a narrow 2-3 loss to Twin Lakes. Highlights Cooper Long had a perfect day at No. 2 singles, winning all three of his matches. Against Hankins of Logansport, Long rallied from a set down, taking the second set in a tiebreak and then winning the 10-point super tiebreak 11-9. He went on to close out his final two matches in convincing fashion. Eli Mattern bounced back after a tough opening loss to Logansport’s Blake Pearson. Refocusing, Mattern dominated his next two matches, dropping only one game total in wins over Maconaquah and Twin Lakes. Dylan Pence, at No. 3 singles, battled hard throughout the day. He earned a solid victory over Woolever of Maconaquah (7-5, 6-1) but fell to Shane Pearson of Logansport and later came up short against Twin Lakes after a strong start. Both doubles teams notched their first wins of the season, each defeating Maconaquah. At No. 1 doubles, McKenzie and Tracy played with grit, while Wiles and Pegg at No. 2 doubles secured their first varsity victory. Both pairs struggled against the strength of Logansport and Twin Lakes but showed continued improvement. Wabash now sits at 1-6 overall, 0-1 in TRC play. The Apaches return home Tuesday to host Maconaquah in conference action, followed by a non-conference matchup against Eastern on Wednesday.
