Maconaquah was forced to forfeit the No. 2 doubles match due to illness, sealing the sweep for Wabash. In junior varsity action, Reed Wiles earned an impressive 8-2 singles victory. With the win, the Apaches improve to 2-6 on the season. They return to action Wednesday against a strong Eastern High School squad. Coach Mattern praised his team’s progress, noting, “The guys have worked hard and shown improvement in the little things as we continue match play. Tonight was a good team win, one we need to build on as we head into the next few weeks. Crazy to think after tomorrow’s match we will have played nine matches in 14 days. No doubt the guys are tired and ready for a few good days of practice, allowing us to get in some good reps on the areas in which we need to improve. I like this team’s mindset, one of working hard and wanting to get better at both the execution and mental side of the game.”
