Wabash Takes 3rd Overall at Home Invite

The Wabash Lady Apaches cross country team competed on their home course Saturday morning, finishing with a strong third-place performance. Running on familiar but challenging terrain, the Apaches stayed competitive throughout the race, working together to secure a top-three team finish. The athletes showed determination as they navigated the demanding stretches of the course and used the support of the home crowd to push through the final miles. Coming in first for the running Apache varsity race crew was 8th grader Teresina Cordes, taking 1st place overall and running a time of 11:35 (the fastest home course time from a Wabash Apache). Second for the team, and also being added to top 10 fastest Apache home times was 8th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a time of 12:26 and placing 5th overall. Following in was 7th grader AdaLynn (Grace) Jones with a season PR time of 13:00 and taking 10th place. Jones will also be added to the fastest Apache top 10 times on the home course. Another orange and black runner into the shoot was 8th grader, Briar Stoffel, running in with a time of 14:17 and taking 29th place. The next Apache was our 5th grader, Eva Sommers, with a time of 15:01 and placing 37th as an individual. The next Apache in was 6th grader Isabella Scott with a time of 15:56 and placed 47th overall. Next for the Apaches was 6th grader, Braelyn Kelly, running in with a time of 16:17 and placing 50th. In the varsity race, there were 61 runners and the girls placed 3rd out of 7 complete teams. There were 11 schools represented within their race. For the reserve race, our team of 5 came in with their best efforts. First for this race on our team was 5th grader Ruby Cantrell with a time of 16:11 and placing 9th overall. Following into the shoot was 7th grader Alexis Lynn with a time of 16:46. Lynn placed 10th overall. Up next was 7th grader Adelyn Edwards finishing her race in a time of 19:48 and placed 15th overall. Next into the shoot was 5th grader, Rory Edwards, with a time of 20:07 and finishing in 16th place. Round out the Apaches was Harper Ellet, a 7th grader, finish her race with a time of 20:25 and taking 17th place. The Apaches toed the line with 17 female athletes, but also had boys to compete with as well. There were 53 total runners in the race. There were 3 complete teams (Wabash taking 3rd), with 5 schools represented in their race. The Wabash Apaches will be racing again next Saturday for the final and toughest race of the season: Conference!
